The Wall Street Journal contacted me in late August for a story they were researching about ETFs that were shutting down and going out of business. As most of you know, I’m a big fan of exchange-traded funds (ETFs). However, about two years ago, I became concerned about the quantity of new products coming to market. I was convinced that many of them would not survive, and that is when I started my monthly ETF Deathwatch, published through CCAM’s affiliate investwithanedge.com.
Earlier this week the Wall Street Journal published that article headlined Uncertain Future For Tiny ETFs. The article’s author, Ari Weinberg, used my ETF closures facts and determined that it’s a tough field for ETF sponsors with 37 funds having liquidated or announced their intention to close so far this year.
